Introducing an Animal-Assisted Therapy Program at Our Farm!
Amanda Malone, LCSW of Marigold Mental Health, LLC is launching a new animal-assisted therapy program at Lil’ Buckaroo’s Farm!
The mental health therapy program centers on the innate healing power of the human-animal bond. Amanda integrates animal-assisted interactions, play and art-based interventions, mindfulness, and evidence-based practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to improve mental health.
Amanda considers fur and feather friends to be co-therapists in the therapeutic process. The integration of animals enhances the therapeutic environment and client-therapist relationship and facilitates growth and change.
· Many people feel naturally comfortable with and connected to animals.
· Animals make therapy positive and enjoyable, leading to improved motivation and engagement.
· Animals allow for fun, humor, and creativity in the therapeutic process.
· Animals can teach clients about empathy, problem-solving, frustration tolerance, mindfulness, self-esteem, advocacy, compassion, acceptance, and more.
Amanda works with children as young as 6 years old, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Group programs will be developed in the coming months!
Common challenges for which our therapeutic services may be beneficial include but are not limited to: ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, emotional disturbance, stress, self-esteem, trauma, interpersonal relationships, coping strategies, and social skills.
Sessions may occur outside in pasture, by the pond, or inside the barn. Sessions may include active interventions such as walks and obstacle course work or more indirect interventions such as animal observations, games, and art-based activities.
Amanda is currently accepting new clients!
· Individual Therapy, $160 per 1-hour session
· Family Therapy, $180 per 1-hour session
· Group Therapy, TBD based on group size
Clients with private insurance may be able to seek out-of-network reimbursement by paying for services the day of session and requesting a superbill to submit to their insurance for possible reimbursement.
